Deputy Principal's Message

A very warm welcome to 2018!

It is my absolute pleasure to welcome you once again to a new academic year that is surely going to be filled with lots of learning and laughter.

I am already very proud of the amazing group of Foundation students who have settled in so well to their school. They have started building friendships and routines. Foundation students had buddies from Year 4 to assist them in the first few weeks of school.

I have also witnessed all years 1-4 being helpful around the school, working an playing so well together. Years 5-6 have also settled in well into their new campus at Dallas.

School Captains, Class Captains, and SRC members

It is always a delight to see students appointed as the school captains, class captains and/or being part of the Student Representative Council (SRC). I look forward to working with all our students in their new roles and wish them all the best in 2018.

Behaviour Management System

In 2018, we will continue using our positive behaviour management system with students. Our behaviour management systems ensures fairness and equity when dealing with any behavioural issues that may arise. All staff and students are aware of the ‘5 Steps’ policy we have in our classrooms.

Some of the principles that underpin our behaviour management system:

The ‘5 Steps’ involved in managing disruptive behaviour

Step 1- Identify problem/remind school rules/re-direct the student to the task (positive reinforcement)
Step 2- Positive negotiation / offer choice to change their behaviour
Step 3- Recharge time in class / restorative chat (thinking about our behaviour and choices)
Step 4 - Buddy Class (reflection time in a buddy class)
- Consequences
Step 5- Leadership intervention (behaviour plans / detention / suspension)

We put our trust in our students to always follow the school rules. We also would like parents/guardians to follow through and remind students of our rules and 5 steps.

Looking forward to working together once again in 2018.

Mrs. Nazan Zengin
Deputy Principal
